Stress And Burning Shoulder

from Vicenza and the Val di Susa:
open letter to students, temporary workers, teachers, parents engaged in the defense of a common good: the school and the university
We have seen in the streets and squares of our cities. We crossed your eyes and we found our determination, that of those not seeking a privilege, with its commitment to defend himself today and the future of many others.
We are women and men of Vicenza, from Val di Susa and many other cultures brought together in the Pact of Mutual Aid permanently mobilized to defend our land and our water, our cities, our valleys and our future: whether it's new military bases, new high-speed lines, new landfills and new incinerators, sources sold off to the highest bidder or whatever little changes: the commons withdrawn from the public spaces of democracy deleted.
In recent years we have learned to look around, to know and question. We want to understand and learn, build and create. As you gather in assembly. As you strive to enhance our creativity and our diversity. How do you defend the common goods that governments would like to escape: the access to knowledge and give it to the profits of private, for watering down the area to U.S. or the party of the wire and cement, the water to allow new huge profits for big multinationals. How do you bet on the strength of reason and truth and practice peaceful methods of struggle. In our mobilization
we know distorted use of information and knowledge, we would like to impose on us ignorant and uninformed choices devastating without our knowledge. Defend access to knowledge and education, then, is defending the ability of each of us to stand up and indignant about the many daily charges against women and men who live in our cities, our countryside, our valleys and mountains.
We have seen in the streets and squares of our cities and as a wave swept silences complacent and indifferent gaze. Your wave crosses our view, the resources that they want to withdraw from the school and the university would use them to devastating new works great and unnecessary harmful to defend public education from this latest attempt of robbery and yours is also our goal, your strength strengthens our resistance and vice versa. Our waves follow the same route: one that has as its goal the defense of common goods, participation and democracy.
The future is in our hands.
